You and Your Church Don't Matter...or Do You?

One of the more haunting quotes that has consistently confronted me over the years, working in the church, reads this way:
Are you the kind of person, and is your church the kind of church, about which others in your community might say, "I don't share their beliefs, but I shudder to think about what this city would be like without them? Tim Keller
This idea will never not be my restless tension within the church. I want to continue to lean in and lead helping human beings, and the church, add high value to their respective communities. That, as you consider the places and spaces you inhabit, and regardless of your particular position on "this" or "that," it is a well established belief and perception that the community is deeply loved by you. Not only that, there is also an unquestionable consensus that...

...you listen to the community.
...you learn from the community.
...you actually love your community in practical and meaningfuways.
...you consider that what matters in your community matters to you.
...you consider your neighborhood a community, not just a commodity.
Pay attention to these things and I guarantee that you and your church will matter in your community. It's the way and the example of Jesus and it's the way for you.
May you never settle for anything less.
Peace & love to you. Paul
